Four action packed mixed grand finals were conducted last week, as the Lakes Entrance Basketball Association winter season culminated.

The night began with the under 10s, which saw Team Matt come from behind at half time to record a 22-16 win over Team Kelly.

Jesse Downing was the match star, finishing with 18 points in a dominant performance.

As part of the presentation the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the season was presented, with Jackson Lawrence from Team Kelly the runner-up, Downing was the winner.

The under 12s was a close contest, with momentum changing several times throughout the two halves.

Nothing separated the sides at half time, but it was Team Damien that finished best, winning over Team Grant, 24-21.

Rocky Wetere Katipa led the scoring for Team Damien with 12 points, while Isaac Balintong, shot 11 for Team Grant.

Team Jason’s Flynn Whelan won the MVP for the season, with the runners-up being, Wetere-Katipa and Team Grant’s Chad Russell.

The most thrilling contest of the night was the under 14s, which was decided in extra time.

Team Marcus opened up a nine point advantage by half time, which was pegged back late in the second half by Team Chris.

Nothing separated the two sides after the first half of extra time, before Team Marcus got on a role in the second extra stanza, eventually running out five point victors.

For the winners, Alex Mahony impressed with 19 points, as did Jack Hayllar (15) and Wetere-Katipa (14).

Nicholas Morrison led the way for Team Chris with 16 points, while Jasper Alleyn-Dennison (15) and Connor Wright (10) also found their range.

The seasonal MVP award went to Yvan Cabrera, with Jacob Silver runner-up.

Team Rachael dominated the first half on the way to their 41-27 win over Team Damien/Josh in the under 16 decider.

Team Rachael led by 18 points at half time with Xavier Martin having hot hands, scoring 20 points.

Durome Abbey lit it up for Team Damien/Josh in the second half but the margin was too great, despite his 22-point effort.
