LAKES ENTRANCE
Current position: Sixth Points: 12
Strengths: The competition’s leading goal kicker, Tom Hudson has been a welcome addition. It was great to see him play alongside local young gun, Oscar Brazzale, in the win against Paynesville. They form the nucleus of an exciting forward line which the club hopes might take them to premiership glory in the future. The seagulls have some great young kids who look like they may develop into good senior footballers. New coach Ben Rotheram has been impressive as a leader, mentor and coach, his side has been victorious on two occasions and sits sixth on the ladder, despite probably having the least experienced list in the competition.
Weaknesses: The Seagulls lack midfield depth with a lot of the heaving lifting to be done by co-captains Liam Carroll and Angus McKenzie, who both have had above average seasons, but it’s hard for them to go with the powerhouse teams who have plenty of rotation options through the middle of the ground. Will be keen to recruit some tall timber down back and another quality mid or two, maybe a Danny Butcher or Jordan Cunico, who like to holiday in the town.
Rising star: Oscar Brazzale – could be anything, can run, kick and jump. Could be a special talent.
Run home: Boisdale Briagolong (A), Lin-denow (H), Stratford (A), Lucknow (H), Orbost Snowy Rovers (H) and Wy Yung (A).
Prediction: Coach Rotheram will be keen to add another couple of wins on the way home and hope to sell Lakes Entrance as a club on the up so he can land some quality big-bodied recruits to put among the emerging local talent.
