Bruthen and District Neigh-bourhood House held its 2024 DisGlow last weekend, raising $550 for the Bruthen Primary School. The event attracted more than 100 local children and their parents, who came together in the Bruthen Mechanics Hall to party and boogie the night away. It was a night of bright lights, smiles and brilliant dance moves, each child lit-up in glow sticks. Buttery popcorn and sizzling sausages were cooked to perfection and free for all.
Bruthen Mechanics Hall will come alive on from 6pm on Saturday, July 20, for the Bruthen Band Hall Bash. Local acts from East Gippsland and beyond will be showcasing original Australian music, with the floorboards set to bounce. The night will be compered by ‘The Dusty Minstrel’, who has one of the biggest collections of milk crates in the southern hemisphere. There’s rumour that the rare deep maroon coloured Loy’s Milk Crate might even make an appearance on the night. Acts on show will include, The Pegs, Electric Yeti, Snowy Jammers, Small Town Alien and The Dusty Minstrel Show.
Bruthen and District Neighbour-hood House last week hosted a colourful celebration of drip bears and bunnies. More than 60 participants joined staff creating their own unique drip bears or bunnies, resulting in a collection of charming and personalised pieces, each pour truly had a personality of its own and they all look fantastic.
