Vic Bream Classic fever will return to Mallacoota on August 17-18, the venue of last year’s grand final.
The Vic Bream Classic Series brings anglers from all over Victoria and interstate to the East Gippsland region, with many new anglers each year getting a taste of just what these picturesque towns have to offer.
This usually starts a long-term tradition of visiting the region each year following the series and holidaying with their families.
The series kicked off in March at Metung and will now see an influx of passionate bream anglers hit the township of Mallacoota for round four of the series before returning for round five at Marlo on October 12-13.
Opportunities still exist to be part of the Mallacoota adventure, with entries for teams of two still being taken.
It’s your opportunity to compete and rub shoulders with some of the best bream anglers in Victoria.
The tournament is open to all age groups with the only restriction is that people under the age of 18, fish with a parent or approved guardian.
All anglers must fish out of a boat with a licensed boat operator on board with teams competing using lure, fly or soft plastic lures to weigh in five live legal-sized breams
In the 2023 finale last November Mallacoota Inlet was on fire for large numbers of hungry bream although those elusive big blue nose black bream were nowhere to be found.
The event was taken out by locals Bowen Joiner and Ben Hanscombe. They managed to put together two consistent days of fishing and took out the win with 10 bream for total weight of 9.36 kilograms.
They finished ahead of Michael Hunt and Adam Brown (8.580kg) and Shaun Clancy and Jarod Healey (8.160kg).
The August Mallacoota event currently has 69 teams entered, including local anglers like Ruth Beeby, Paul and Justin Conn, Steven and Lindsay Pryke, among others.
