The highlight of the weeks golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club was the victory by Julie Rowe in the 2024 ladies knockout singles.
The hotly contested event came down to the final few holes, with Rowe finally securing victory over the inform Apola Weel on the 17th green, officially winning two up.
It wasn’t all bad news for Weel who was victorious in “A” grade in Wednesday’s ladies stableford event, while Di Gray had a great round, recording 39 points to secure “B” grade from Judith Congalton on countback.
Tuesday’s winners of Ruthless and Toothless were Peter Courtney (27 points) and Mark Evans (32) who has been racking up the wins lately.
Thursday’s men’s event saw 69 starters and some impressive scoring.
Dennis Compton won “C” grade and the whole event with an exceptional 44 points, while Norm Backman was victorious in “A” grade with 40 points, with Wes Coad continuing his good form to take out “C” grade with 38 points.
Good numbers contested both the men’s and women’s stableford event on Saturday, with some great scores posted.
Hayley Cotton won the ladies event with a 37 points, with Mark Evans topping off an exceptional week, banking the men’s with an amazing 44 points.
Neil Howell prevailed in “A” grade with 39 points, while Gary Morrison had a great round in “B” grade finishing strongly to accumulate 43 points.
