If your veins aren’t keen on giving blood, Gippsland Lakes Complete Health nurses will soon have a new tool that makes finding the right vein a breeze.
Thanks to a generous $5600 donation from the Lakes Entrance Volunteer Craft Group, having a new VS400 Vein-Sight vein finder for GLCH’s Jemmeson Street site will soon become a reality.
Craft group members Rosemary, Jess and Julie, presented their cheque to GLCH’s clinical and nursing services executive manager, Cheryl Bush, and GLCH registered nurses Sharna Halliday and Aisha Ta’ala, last week.
The high-tech tool lights up veins near the skin with an infrared sensor, making it easier for nurses to find just the right spot when taking samples or inserting cannulas to administer medication or fluid.
The device can be especially helpful in cases where small or deeper veins are hard to find, guiding nurses to the best choice first time.
