Lakes Entrance will host a smarting third-ranked Lucknow at home on Saturday in round 15 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
The Magpies went down by just two points to arch rival Wy Yung last Saturday, and are now locked in a red hot battle for the double chance with the Tigers.
Both sides are locked on 11 wins, a game behind Boisdale Briagolong, and a game ahead of Stratford.
Lucknow is close to the top of its game, with the Seagulls hoping to bounce back after a tough day at Stratford, where it struggled for personnel.
Lakes Entrance senior coach, Ben Rotheram, will be hoping he can get some experience back into the line up this week, after being cruelled by illness and injury last week.
It’s hoped key players like Liam Carroll, Angus McKenzie, Matt Bollerman and Matt Duggan will be available for selection.
Youngsters Caleb O’Donnell and Max Stevens impressed on debut last week, Rotheram will be keen to get some more game into them in the coming weeks, while other promising youngsters like Angus Stevens and Jacob Daly will come into selection consideration, as the Seagulls try to be competitive, with an eye on the future.
Games against talented line ups like Lucknow, which contain quality veterans like John Gooch and Andrew Nelson enhance the experience at senior level for the stars of tomorrow.
