in Sport

After 14 exciting rounds and an enthralling final series, the Lakes Entrance Basketball Association autumn senior grand finals were played last week.
On Tuesday night nothing separated the Turbos and Celtics in the men’s final at half time, before the Celtics went to another level in the second half, running out convincing winners 58-45.
Scoring for the Celtics was led by Chris Fields who sunk 17 points, while Adam Lucke (14), Jake DeDonato (10) and Ben Talko (9) were all solid contributors.
For the gallant Turbos, Christian Brooks led the scoring with 16 and Jay Vale scored 10.
In the “B” grade final, Flint Tropics eclipsed the Spartans by 15 points, 45-30.
Alex Jerkins led the scoring with 14 for the Tropics, well supported by brother Toby (10).
Will Addison was a standout for the losers, gathering many rebounds and sinking 13 points.
The women played their grand final on Wednesday night, Lakes Chicks and Semi Pro engaging in a stirring battle with the game up for grabs right up until the final buzzer.
Semi Pro led by seven goals at half time, before the Chicks mounted a spirited comeback, but Semi Pro held its nerve to win by three points, 33-30.
Point guard Natalie Bire was in great form finishing with 16 points for the winners, while Amelia Harrison led the scorers for the Chicks with 11.
In the “B” final, BFG’s outclassed Basket Cases, winning by 38 points, 49-11.
