This year’s Rocktober will take place over the weekend of October 12 and 13 in Lakes Entrance and there will be an exciting new area for all to enjoy.
Rocktober is a weekend festival event organised by Lakes Entrance Rock and Roll and supported by other local rock and roll clubs in the area. Their aim is to bring an event to Lakes Entrance, bringing visitors into the town to help boost the economy.
Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA) events chairperson, Alison Brewer, announced recently they have applied to get Myer Street closed for both days from 7am to 4pm.
“In conjunction with traders we intend to hold the rock’n’roll display and live band, plus market/food stalls on Saturday,” Alison said.
“We hope to also have the show and shine in Myer Street on the Sunday, which includes custom, rod and classic cars of years gone by. “All retailers will be actively involved in selling their wares and be complimented by a number of food/market stalls also.
“The plan is that from 10am to 4pm dancing, music and market/food stalls plus traders will all be involved to create a great atmosphere.”
LEADA is asking all retailers to get into the mood and dress up their shop windows and/or their staff.
There will also be the popular dance workshops held at the Mechanics Hall on Saturday morning from 10am.
