Lakes Entrance recorded a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the reserves against Orbost Snowy Rovers in round 10 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
Trailing by nine points with less than five minutes to play, two late goals in a low-scoring game was enough to see the Seagulls home and revitalise a season that looked cooked late in the final term.
The hero was Will Forrester who slotted a classy left snap after a quiet day to put his side in front with less than a minute to play in a match that seesawed for most of the afternoon.
The win was the Seagulls’ fifth and they now sit outside the top four by just percentage, with that expected to rise dramatically when they tackle Paynesville this week.
Other goalkickers for Lakes were Kobe Stephenson, Luke Reggardo, Mick Sowden, Jack Cameron and the ageless Chris Andy, the former senior premiership hero turning back the clock with his classy left foot.
Best players for the Seagulls were the consistent Andrew Hatch, Steven Harrison, Byron Daley, Cameron Ferris, Andrew Rimmer and Ben Crittenden.
It was disappointment for the third ranked Lakes Entrance in the thirds, stumbling in its quest to push for a double chance finals spot, defeated by the second rated Blues by 29 points.
A seven-goal to one blitz by the Blues in the first half set up the victory, with wayward kicking in the second half preventing the Seagulls from getting closer than around five goals at any stage.
Best players for Lakes Entrance were Kurt Grabham, Cohen Ferris, Max and Angus Stevens, George Ioakim and Sloane Wisby.
