You don’t often think of Lakes Entrance as a winter holiday destination but the East Gippsland Winter Festival, in collaboration with Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA), and support from the Lakes Entrance businesses and community members, are set to change that.
The program of activity over the next two weeks around Lakes Entrance is impressive, covering everything from lantern making workshops, free guided nature walks, seafood festivals, indoor inflatable aqua run fun, and slime making muckabouts, but the not to be missed headline act is the annual Lakes Lights happening this Saturday night, July 1.
Set to be bigger and better than ever, an expected 5000 visitors will join in the festive fun including the community lantern parade, the magical large scale lantern displays, a cracking live music lineup and winter foreshore market.
It’s an event that resonates with the Lakes Entrance community and draws crowds from all over East Gippsland who rug up for the annual light show.
Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA) is looking for volunteers to assist on the Saturday from 3pm to 10pm.

Workshops will continue everyday this week at Iceworks Studio in anticipation for the event which is expected to attract up to 5000 people. (PS)
