Australia Day drew a large number of visitors to Lakes Entrance, Lake Tyers Beach, Metung and surrounds with most turning it into a four-day weekend.
There was a steady stream of traffic from Wednesday evening with some motorists citing it took them six hours to travel from Melbourne to Lakes Entrance.
The long weekend kicked off the successful Australia Day celebrations on the foreshore including live music, food trucks, market stalls and the Duck Cup, all organised by Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA).
