The Metung Fun Run demonstrated the essence of community spirit on Sunday with hundreds of people turning out, despite the rain and cold, to participate in one of the town’s annual headline sporting events.
Powered by The HIIT Factory Bairnsdale, this community event raises funds for the Metung Primary School and the replacement and maintenance of the Metung community bus, which is co-owned by the school and the Lions Club of Metung, so local residents can access and hire it for their own use.
“We want to thank every one of our 40 supporters and sponsors for their generous involvement, particularly our key sponsors – Metung Hot Springs and the Metung Business and Tourism Association, and all the volunteers including the Metung CFA, Jarvis Norwood Constructions, and Metung Bloodhounds – without whom the event could not proceed,” Metung’s school principal, Julie Butt-Henley, said.
Owner of Metung Hot Springs, Adrian Bromage, presented the overall winners with their trophies, as well as Metung Hot Springs and Country Club vouchers. Interestingly, Adrian and wife Rachel, were the original founders of the Metung Fun Run some 11 or so years ago, back when their children attended the school.
