In December 2004 a dairy farmer and his wife bought a clothing store in Lakes Entrance and turned it into a local iconic surf shop – Sandbar Surf.
Debbie Lina had been in surf shops since she left school, but husband Gerry had spent 32 years as a dairy farmer, firstly in New Zealand and then, at a farm near Sale.
“We had always been beach people and were keen to get back to the coast when we bought the shop and moved to Lakes Entrance,” Gerry said.
The Linas have now sold their business and are pleased the new owners will be keeping the traditions of their store.
“Deb and I are stoked Ozmosis Rip Curl have bought both this store and our Bairnsdale shop as we have always been loyal supporters of the Curl,” Gerry said.
