The return of community sport in the EGFNL saw the Seagulls travel to Orbost in the match of the round.
The first quarter was a real arm wrestle in heavy conditions with both teams coming to the quarter-time break with two goals on the board and showing signs of the red-hot contest to come.
The half-time lead was in favour of the Seagulls by a goal but the Blues pushed hard to lead by two points at three-quarter time.
In a frenetic final term the Seagulls were able to hold the Blues to only two points while kicking a goal and two points themselves to clinch a four-point win, keeping second position on the ladder their own for another week.
The Blues were served well by Ashleigh Jonkers, Max Welsh and Mitch Dignan who all contributed true four-quarter efforts, while it was an uncustomary quiet day for usual leading light, Hamish Nettleton.
