The onset of the seven-day circuit breaker COVID-19 restrictions that began in Victoria Thursday night have again hit hard, emptying the streets of people.
However, takeaway food venues have been well supported in Lakes Entrance, with the public pleased to still be able to get their coffee fix.
Brandon Lau, with his partner Kayla Stephenson, took over the popular Salty Groms Cafe in mid March and are keeping the old owner’s mantra of trading 365 days a year.
“Being a regional business in a small town it is important to keep your reputation going,” he said.
“If you are open for business during times like this it gives a positive vibe and we want to keep up that vibe.
“We have been going fairly well and are happy that our customers can still get their coffee and takeaway food,” Brandon said.
Brandon and Kayla said they had appreciated the help from family members over the trying times.
New cases of COVID recorded Monday night have raised questions over whether the lockdown will be extended further.
The circuit-breaker lockdown is due to finish tomorrow night, Thursday, June 3, at 11.59pm.
