The 2021 Snowy River Sprint will see the biggest field in the event’s history with more than 65 classic and modern rally cars from all around the country taking on the Buchan-Orbost Road.
And the cars, drivers and crews will be in Lakes Entrance at the Central Hotel this Friday.
Australian Tarmac Rally took over ownership of the Snowy River Sprint in May 2020 and under the new ownership, this event will have a new lease of life with more than 20 of the crews heading to East Gippsland for the first time.
Crews will compete on 19 closed road stages, with more than 250 kilometres of tarmac rallying, vying for points for the first round of the 2021 Australian Tarmac Rally Championship.
“This event was originally meant to run in September, but lockdown put an end to that. But our crews are ready and looking forward to visiting the area, with many adding in extra days to do things around East Gippsland,” executive director, Brittany Smith, said.
“We have spent a lot of time working out how to bring some life back into the events, and get the public involved and to see the rally cars up close.
“There are only a handful of places in the world that hold tarmac rallies like this, and East Gippsland is one of those places. It truly is something that everyone should get to see.”
Rally cars and crews will be at the Central Hotel in Lakes Entrance from noon on Friday, May 28, and in Buchan on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, for viewing.
Road closures will also be in place on the Saturday and Sunday.
