The Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance had its first face-to-face meeting since the second COVID-19 wave last week to celebrate Mike Anketell’s 50 years as a Rotarian.
Fifty people attended the dinner at Wyanga Winery. By using inside rooms and outside areas, all of the COVID-19 restrictions were met.
Rotary’s District Governor, Mark Humphries, presented Mike with a letter from the international president of Rotary and a Sapphire Pin Paul Harris Award.
Mark also inducted new members Carolyn and Ken Aston.
Mike has been a key figure in supporting local and international Rotary Projects.
Over the years Mike and his wife, Louise, have raised thousands of dollars for these projects.
“$500 was raised at the dinner for Rotary’s End Polio Now project. Polio has now been eradicated in all but two countries – Afghanistan and Pakistan,” president of Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance, Jeff Wilson, said.
