Lakes Entrance Secondary College’s class of 2019 has finished the year on a high with excellent results and bright futures ahead of them.
With final exams held last month, students across the state received their official ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) scores last Thursday.
“We are over the moon with the results,” acting principal, Barb Hadlow said.
“All of our year 12 students performed really strongly this year with great individual scores and achievements.
“Our dux (who at time of print was unknown but was announced last night at the college’s awards night) scored in the top three per cent of the state, which is excellent.
“Students achieved great individual scores, many unexpectedly terrific. Scores above 40 were achieved in studio arts (48), English (40 and 42), further maths (46) and visual communications (47).
“These results confirm the commitment of college staff who have worked tirelessly for both the wellbeing and educational needs of the students.”
Ms Hadlow said the college’s average study score had also surged this year.
“We’re heading into a whole new era for Lakes Entrance Secondary College and it’s a bright future we’re looking at,” she said.
Lakes Entrance Secondary College had 18 students complete year 12 this year, six of which completed VCAL studies.
“All VCE students will be able to access the colleges and universities they wish and the VCAL students have all chosen a great variety of work pathways,” Ms Hadlow said.
“They have all been well equipped by the school for their futures.”
Not all East Gippslanders attended school in the district, but that didn’t stop them achieving.
Gippsland Grammar (Sale) is thrilled to be celebrating another outstanding year of VCE results with its class of 2019 among some of Victoria’s highest achieving year 12 students.
Lakes Entrance’s Grace Mackie was among those Gippsland Grammar students to achieve above 90 with an ATAR of 95.1.
Gippsland Grammar principal, David Baker, said the entire school community was thrilled to be celebrating the VCE success of its students.
“We’ve had yet another year of outstanding results,” he said.
“We have many stories of success from a Dux who achieved a well-deserved 99.55 to 20 per cent of our students scoring above 90 and 98 per cent of our students with an ATAR above 50.
“This represents a great result for all of our students and also for our wonderful teachers who work tirelessly with our students across all year levels. A Gippsland Grammar education is so much more than an ATAR and, for me, the true reflection of success is clearly demonstrated within the character of all of our students.”
