Netballers in Lakes Entrance will soon have better facilities to play, practice, and compete thanks to a boost to their facilities from the Andrews Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria, Jane Garrett, recently announced the sports facility will be upgraded to suit growing numbers of players, with support from the State Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
“Sports facilities like netball courts are so important to Gippsland communities, and we’re proud to be supporting them with the modern, safe facilities they deserve,” Ms Jane Garrett said.
The decommissioned tennis courts at the Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve will be transformed with over $119,000 into a quality and compliant netball court with 100 lux lighting, fencing and a game day shelter.
The State Government has invested more than $630 million in community sport and recreation facilities across Victoria since 2014.
Earlier in the year, the reserve received a $13,250 boost for an upgrade of kitchen facilities and a dual-purpose equipment shed.
A further $360,000 for new and improved changeroom facilities at Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve to cater for female umpires and players and those with a disability was also announced earlier in the year.
The reserve is the key sports facility in Lakes Entrance with around 350 users each week, making it one of the busiest venues in East Gippsland.
