The first late night shopping event in Lakes Entrance last Thursday, which saw retailers open their doors to shoppers until 9pm, has been deemed a huge success.
Local residents got behind the initiative, and it was evident as there was a positive vibe throughout the town.
Some shops put on food and drinks, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Dare Clothing owner, Joanne Reggardo, was pleased with how the night went and that many businesses got involved. According to Joanne it was also the perfect timing for the event as it gave the public a chance to make a start on their Christmas shopping.
Lakes Toys had good trading throughout the night.
“It was a great atmosphere, everyone was out and about and the weather was perfect,” Lia Bruce said.
Lia also noticed that customers were travelling from Bairnsdale to support the night.
Although Surf Shack manager, Lisa Jinette, wasn’t working last Thursday night, she said the three shop assistants at the store were busy all night.
Libby Sztynda, of Destiny 3, said sales were way up.
“There was such a great vibe. It felt like a Lakes Entrance Christmas street party,” she added.
Shoppers who purchased something on the night from participating stores, went into a raffle, which will be drawn soon.
