Lakes Entrance RSL will conduct its traditional Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony at the cenotaph on Marine Parade on Tuesday, August 18.
The solemn occasion provides an opportunity to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of Australian service personnel during the Vietnam War.
Originally known as Long Tan Day, the annual commemoration marks the pivotal 1966 battle—with 2026 marking the 60th anniversary of the engagement.
The Lakes Entrance service will commence at 11am and feature a lone piper, a performance by the Nowa Nowa Men’s Choir, and a wreath-laying ceremony.
Lakes Entrance RSL Sub-Branch president Peter Tunnage will lead the proceedings and encouraged the local community to attend.
“Lakes Entrance RSL welcomes all members of the public to join us at the cenotaph on Marine Parade next Tuesday,” Mr Tunnage said.
