Lakes Entrance Golf Club member Ben Boers has racked up another extraordinary achievement on the green.
Fresh off carding his first-ever hole-in-one at his home course in Lakes Entrance, the talented 11-year-old has claimed a commanding victory at the Victorian State Schools Golf Championships, held at Neangar Park in Bendigo.
Boers competed in the prestigious two-day tournament against a field of 39 of Victoria’s top school-aged golfers. Playing from the men’s tees, he delivered a superb opening round of 72, followed by a solid 77 on the final day to finish seven-over par. The exceptional performance saw him claim the state championship title by an incredible five shots.
This outstanding victory is expected to see Boers earn selection to represent Victoria at the Australian State Schools Golf Championships in Newcastle this October — a well-deserved reward for his ongoing hard work, discipline, and passion for the sport.
Following his state title win, the young regional golf star now holds an impressive handicap of 4.3.
