Blustery conditions failed to deter the faithful, with 101
participants lining up for the weekly Lakes Entrance parkrun last Saturday.
Runners, joggers and walkers faced tough conditions along the Esplanade for the five-kilometre course, but all participants completed the event safely.
The field was led home by Bem Osmand in an impressive time of 18 minutes 28 seconds, while Ashlee Buzasi was the first woman across the line in 21.33 on her course debut.
The event welcomed 28 first-timers and saw 12 participants record new personal bests, with runners representing seven different clubs.
Personal best performances were recorded by Cameron Kelly (20.52), Jaxon Osmand (21.28), Chris Edwards (21.56), Ben Whiting (23.01), Thomas Graham (25.27), Davie Wilson (28.49), Tom Florance (29.46), Susan Seymour (31.51), Ward Weare (31.53), Kelly Ford (32.06), Lyndel Weare (39.31) and
Joel Webber (43.09).
Clubs represented included Sale and District Runners, Malvern Harriers Athletic Club, Lakes and District Runners, Bendigo University Athletics Club, Victorian Masters Athletics, AussieWalk and Southern Peninsula Sports Club.
Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the rotunda at 8am every Saturday and is open to participants of all abilities.
