Unfortunately, due to the lousy weather, neither of the Goannas teams due to play last Sunday had a game.
This means the over 50 team are still yet to play this season, and the over 60 team have just played the one game.
The next game for the over 50s will be a home game against Geelong on Sunday, November 9.
Both the over-60 team and 70 team will travel to Geelong this coming weekend for a ‘double-header’ at the Leopold Cricket Club grounds.
On Tuesday, the over-70 team welcomed the West Gippsland Wombats to the Village Green ground in Toongabbie, with the turf ground was still rather wet from the weekend’s rain.
Winning the toss, the Goannas batted first with Donald Cameron and Neil Meredith opening the innings, both retiring for 16 and 29 respectively from their 30 balls.
They were joined by Ian Gibson (19), Ray Smith (30) and Phill Higgins (10), also retired after facing 30 balls.
The Goannas had reached 87 at the 20 over drinks break.
Murray Moore (26 from 20) including a mighty six, before a collapse of sorts, the Goannas, 3/156 after 34 overs.
Not out batsmen, Bob Duljas (12) and Gordon Cowling (20) saw the Goannas reach 187 runs, off their 40 overs.
Peter Anton had done a magnificent job for the teams, getting the ground ready for play and setting up the afternoon tea back at the main clubhouse.
After tea the Wombats started their innings slowly as Ian Southall and Cowling (1/6), held the score to 1/14 after 10 overs.
Barrie Nunn and Milnes bowled the next 10 overs for 15 and 14 runs each as the Wombats reached 1/45 at drinks.
Meredith (1/5) and Smith (1/9) both took wickets in the final 20, as the Wombats were restricted to 4/114 after 40 overs.
Other highlights were Smith taking a good catch at slip early, Gibson getting an impressive stumping and Cameron took a good catch at backward square leg, combined with the ground fielding of Southall, Moore and Duljas.
