East Gippsland Verge Gardens and Landcare (EGVG) is calling for obligation-free Expressions of Interest from residents who want to install a new, council-approved verge garden or extend an existing one.
EGVG is applying for a grant to
partly fund the cost of purchasing local native plants for your verge garden. If successful, residents can receive up to $15 per square metre for verge garden
plants (conditions apply to ensure compliance with council guidelines).
“Verge gardens cool and beautify our local streets, reducing the effects of severe heat in summer and recreating habitat for our small local birds, insects and animals,” EVCG’s Judy Clarke said.
“Be the first in your neighbourhood to be part of this new style of gardening.”
Registration of your Expression of
Interest closes August 21. Contact Judy (details available at the Advertiser office) for more details.
