Lakes Entrance made easy work of Paynesville during round 13 of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association’s under 13 competition at AJ Freeman Reserve in Paynesville last Sunday.
The enthusiastic young Seagulls restricted the Gulls to just one goal in the first half as they set up a 30-point winning margin with accurate goal kicking and slick ball movement, which pleased the coaching staff with finals just around the corner.
Callum Yates and Sunny Eiseman both impressed in the forward 50, leading the way with three goals each with John and Makayla Sowden both impressing with two each.
Jack Hayllar, Yates, Eiseman, Makayla Sowden, Will Campisi and the hard-running Brodie Darcy were all standouts for Lakes Entrance.
The Seagulls currently sit on top of the ladder with 10 wins and one loss.
The under 15s had a bye with Paynesville not having a side. They remain in second place on the ladder with a 10 wins and one loss for the season.
This week sees the final home and away match of the season with Lakes Entrance hosting Wy Yung in a dress rehearsal for the qualifying final in both grades, which will be played the following Sunday at Bairnsdale City Oval.
The Seagulls will be keen to assert their authority on the Tigers with the sides likely to meet three times in the next four weeks.
