Lakes Entrance’s Alan Coe and Merryn Stevenson, executive officer and director of Warrigunya, have both been awarded Paul Harris Fellows by the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise for their work over many years to establish a transitional housing initiative
for Aboriginal men leaving prison.
Warrigunya, a new facility in South Gippsland, will provide a new opportunity and a pathway for men to slowly reconnect with mainstream society.
Both Alan and Merryn have demonstrated unwavering commitment towards justice, cultural healing and the empowerment of Aboriginal men.
Warrigunya is a pioneering new environment that provides a culturally safe place for stable housing and all round support.
A Paul Harris Fellow is the highest award to be received by any Rotarian as it symbolises a commitment to “doing good in the world” aligning with the mission of Rotary.
Rotary clubs can also award a Paul Harris Fellow to any citizen they feel merits such standing in communities.
