Ambulance Victoria (AV) has announced the appointment of a new and well-credentialed board

director, Paula Morgan, of Lakes Entrance.

Bringing a wealth of skills and knowledge to the role, Ms Morgan will be of exceptional benefit to Ambulance Victoria as the organisation continues to develop and improve its services across the state.

Ms Morgan is a proud Gunnai woman and a registered nurse with decades of experience working in the health sector.

Her nursing career has seen her provide healthcare across the country, specifically in Northern Territory and Western Australian Aboriginal communities.

For more than 15 years, Ms Morgan has worked at Lakes Entrance Aboriginal Health Association (LEAHA), where she started as a community nurse before moving into the role of chief executive officer.

Ms Morgan has held the role of Deputy Chairperson at the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, the peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing in Victoria.

Ms Morgan’s wealth of experience and knowledge will support AV in delivering improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and communities.

AV interim chief executive and incoming board chair, Andrew Crisp AM APM, said he is looking forward to working with Ms Morgan.

“We’re very fortunate at AV to have attracted board directors who are just as committed and passionate as our dedicated front-line workforce about delivering the best health care for the Victorian community each and every day – and Ms Morgan is no exception,” Mr Crisp said.

“While we bid farewell to dedicated board chair, Shelly Park, the breadth of experience Ms Morgan brings to AV, including her work in Indigenous health, will further enhance the health and emergency services, clinical governance, community engagement, executive management, finance, legal and enterprise risk management experience of the board.”

The AV Board of Directors develops strategic direction, oversees financial and service performance, and ensures regulatory and government policy requirements and standards are met.

The Board represents the diversity of our community with directors from culturally diverse backgrounds, from both metropolitan and rural areas and a mix of gender.
