Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club held an amazing season finale last weekend with 60 members attending the celebration/presentation function at their home base.
Organised by vice commodore Anne Delahay, the night was highlighted the outstanding efforts of members on and off the water over the past 12 months.
Award winners were met with warm applause, as some sensational efforts were identified and recognised.
Good food and great company along with a few drinks, gave the night an outstanding buzz.
Steve Langlands and crew John Spencer (right) won the Twilight Series trophy. (PS)
The Twilight Female Skippers series winner was Debbie Carruthers on Shadowfax an Etchell. (PS)
Vicky Eagan was first in the JK Lloyd Trophy race. (PS)
Adrian and Rosemarie Marsh on Rambler finished first in the Four Winds Trophy, which goes past Ocean Grange, then Steamer Landing and back to the Yacht Club. (PS)
Gary Maskiell, commodore of the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club, excelled this season winning seven trophies, aboard his Mosquito Cat Spin catamaran “Bees Knees”. Maskiell adopts a simple motto, you have to be in it to win. (PS)
Anne Delahay, club vice commodore, won the Evelyn French Trophy for the best female sailor in the Club. She sails with Peter Farrell on Saltlik, a Castle 650. (PS)
David Meldrum was awarded the CG Drummond and Barnseys Last Chance trophies on Billycart an International 2.4. (PS)
Peter Farrell and Anne Delahay, won the WGM Group Troup trophy and the Lessels Family trophy in division two on Saltlik. (PS)
James Frecheville, Christie Arras, and Ruth Eaton were present to receive the last Home trophy for the work they do in race management, without their contribution racing wouldn’t take place. (PS)
Gary Maskiell, commodore, presented Tim Shepperd the Commodore’s Club Person of the Year for his magnificent contribution. (PS)
Stuart Loft and crew, Katrina Fleming, and David Parish, (right), won the Venture trophy for the fastest monohull, Easter Cock of the Lake, and Metung and return on Anger Management. (PS)
