Lakes Entrance Primary School and Lakes Entrance Secondary College are both beneficiaries in the State Government budget and are delighted with the upgrades they will be able to achieve.
The primary school has been granted $6.6 million for a rebuild of the library, two classrooms, art room and STEM area.
The State Government said that it is focused on what matters most to families in Eastern Victoria, delivering real help with the cost of living and more investment in
frontline services.
Following the announcement Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh stated: “Our investments in education are ensuring that local students receive a world class education, preparing them for a lifetime contributing to our local communities and economies”.
“Further to our ongoing investments in VLine infrastructure, modern trains and buses, and the hugely popular capped daily fares, kids will now receive free public transport seven days a
week,” he said.
Principal of Lakes Entrance Primary School Simon Prior is thrilled with the announcement and looks forward to the beginning of the build.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the school, the students and the community,” he said.
“It will bring modern learning spaces. Over the past two years the total investment in our school is $15 million, which includes the new kindergarten.

“We are hoping the rebuild can commence by term three and will probably last one year. The school celebrates 100 years next year so we are hopeful the opening of the new section will coincide with that.”
Lakes Entrance Secondary College (LESC) will benefit from a $500,000 grant to refurbish change rooms and toilets.
LESC is thrilled to receive the funding from the Victorian School Building Authority.
The upgrade of the student and staff amenities has been recognised as a key area for improvement within the school.
“Comfort and access to quality facilities are closely linked to the wellbeing of our school community,” a spokesperson said.
“When our students and staff feel supported and cared for in their environment, it positively impacts their health, engagement, and learning outcomes, all of which are vital to student success.
“When we shared the news with students that they would be receiving upgraded bathroom facilities, the response was overwhelmingly positive. It is a great step forward, and we are excited to see the difference it
will make.”
The State Government also announced an increase in the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund to help families with a Health Care Card or concession card. Payments will increase from $154 per year for primary school students and $256 per year for secondary students to $400, from January 1, 2026.
They stated that no one should miss out on the things that make school fun. But the cost of camps, school sports and excursions can be too much for some families in
Eastern Victoria.
