Fitness, flexibility, strength and of course fun are the focus at The Movement Studio in Lake Bunga, located in the old Red Bluff Brewery building.
Sisters Charlie Moorhouse and Taylor Sproule have developed a program of pilates, barre and dance designed for every ability level in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment. There are no performances to worry about just classes that help you feel strong, balanced and connected.
Charlie is a qualified pilates instructor whose passion for the practice was inspired while living in Byron Bay. She offers group classes Monday through Saturday, times varying from 6am to 5.15pm.
“If you’re dealing with a specific injury or prefer a more personalised experience before joining a group class, a one-on-one session can be a great starting point,” Charlie said.
“Pilates allows people to strengthen their everyday muscles, giving them flexibility and fitness, and enjoyment of everyday life activities.
“So far there has been a good response to the different aspects of pilates.”
In June, The Movement Studio will be introducing reformer machine classes, which can add resistance for strength training and recovery, accommodating all fitness levels at any stage of life.
Both Charlie and Taylor bring years of experience in dance, having trained with Jan Pianta School of Dance. They also hold Barre Body qualifications, combining their dance background with fitness instruction to create unique, engaging classes.
“My dance classes are focused on
movement, connection and flexibility,” Taylor said.
“We currently offer adult dance classes on Thursday nights and toddler dance classes on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. We have a spacious studio with mirrors, barres, and mats, making it a great place to connect, move and meet new people. And for those colder months, we have a cosy wood fire to keep the space warm.”
Taylor also offers Barre classes, a ballet-inspired workout with a fusion of pilates, these classes give you a full-body burn. Additionally, she leads a Mums and Bubs class, providing a safe, welcoming space to move without pressure or judgment.
“All class times and descriptions are available on The Movement Studio social media, @the.movementstudio,” Taylor said.
With a vision of creating a wellness hub, Taylor and Charlie are eager to welcome other instructors specialising in yoga, fitness or other wellness practices to join the community and share the space.
