The inaugural Snowy River Country Music Festival, which is being organised by Lakes Entrance musician Olivia Lay and the
Club Hotel in Orbost, will be held on
Saturday, June 28.
Olivia felt there was a need for such a concert with an appetite for country music in the area.
“The hotel is the perfect venue with the old bottle shop being repurposed with a stage and outdoor area,” Olivia said.
“We will have a free courtesy bus running from Bairnsdale, picking up along the way including Lakes Entrance, through to Orbost and also from Marlo. Get dressed up in your country gear and enjoy a fun night out.
The event will run from 6pm to 11pm. There will be a bucking mechanical bull to add to the fun, 5 Canarys food van and hotel meals.
Apart from accomplished musician Olivia, there are other great acts appearing, all from the Gippsland area. Orbost’s Sean McGuinnes who plays alternative folk/country will be appearing, as will Ethan Calway from Warragul, an established performer in the country scene including playing at Tamworth Music Festival. Dog Country, who are a
band new to the gigging scene, will also be there. They have recorded with Bruthen’s Brent Hodgkin, who will be doing the sound for the night.
Bookings for the event and bus can be made through Orbost Club Hotel or Olivia Lay’s Facebook page. Tickets are available at the East Gippsland Winter Festival website.
