At the beginning of 2025, four local schools received a donation from the Lakes Entrance Lions Club and two St Brendan’s Primary School students have written a report on how their school used the donation.
Students Isla Strong and Charlie Smythe reported: “The Lions Club run a raffle each year to support schools and St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School used their donation to purchase a Nudel Kart and Rover.
“What is a Nudel Kart you might ask?
“The Nudel Kart and Rover is a type of large classroom toy which includes small pieces that connect in a lot
of ways, and with imagination you can turn it into anything.
“Mr Hamer, our principal, helped a group of students to screw the parts together. We made the pieces that you create by using screws, cordless drills and instructions. The Kart and Rover includes draws filled with accessories to play with, to use your imagination and create games and structures.
“The resources are de-constructable and can be reconfigured in endless ways to encourage self-directed learning. You build by slotting small pieces through gaps in the bigger pieces.
“We presented the resource to the other students by explaining how it can be used. Class of the week winners will be able to play with the Rover, and the Kart will be for class projects.
“St Brendan’s would like to thank the Lions Club for their fundraising efforts and generous donation to help schools such as ours to purchase resources like our new Nudel Kart and Rover.”
