A new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) building in Kalimna West is now operational.

This latest addition marks another milestone in the region’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable transport and reducing emissions by ensuring reliable access to convenient charging points, according to the Gippsland Climate Change Network (GCCN).

This charging station joins a comprehensive network of EV chargers across Gippsland aimed at providing affordable and convenient charging options for electric vehicle owners. The network includes facilities at

Lardner Park, Baw Baw Food Hub in Warragul, the Business Enterprise Centre in Churchill, Yallambee Aged Care Village in Traralgon, and the Uniting Church

in Yarragon.

“The opening of this EV charging facility is a significant step towards a more sustainable future for Gippsland. We are delighted to partner with GLaWAC to bring this important infrastructure to the community,”

Darren McCubbin, chief executive officer for GCCN, said.

“Gippsland is making significant strides in embracing clean energy solutions, and the expansion of our EV charging network is a testament to our commitment to helping people decarbonise the way they live, move and work,” Christo van Niekerk, general manager AGL Loy Yang, said.

“We are proud to support GCCN in this initiative and look forward to seeing more people in the region make the switch to electric vehicles.”

The new charging station at GLaWAC is not only a boon for EV owners but also highlights GLaWAC’s evolving leadership in the new energy space, reflecting a commitment to protecting the environment and fostering a sustainable future for all.

“We are excited to host this EV charging facility at GLaWAC. It represents a meaningful step towards a sustainable future and reflects our intrinsic responsibilities to care for Country as we continue to grow our influence across Gunaikurnai Country,” Tanya Taylor, executive director growth and sustainability, said.

GCCN invites the community to join in celebrating the opening of the new charging facility and encourages residents and visitors alike to take advantage of the growing network of EV chargers across Gippsland.
