The annual contest between the President team and the Captains side highlighted last Wednesday’s competition at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club.
The event attracted 27 players, with the Captains coming out on top, their leading scorer and overall winner for the day was Sherrie Elliott (40 points), while club Renee Perciaval led the way for the President’s with 40 points.
Last Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless competition saw 19 players sign up, Ian Stephens took out “A” grade and Daryl Brassil “B” grade.
Thursday’s medley event was par, with 92 players teeing up, “B” grade winner Paul Mifsud coming out on top with a great score
of plus four.
Other winners were Jonathan Yates (“A” grade) and Ben Johnson (“C” grade).
The consistent and brilliant Percival was back among the winners on Saturday, winning the “A” grade and overall ladies competition with a solid 36 points, with Sue Toseland victorious in “B” grade with 34.
In the men’s, Johnson continued his good recent form, despite losing a shot off his handicap from Thursday, winning “C” grade and overall with 43 points.
Other winners were the unlucky Mike Spruzen (42) and Tim Rhind (38).
Golf East Gippsland pennant commenced on Sunday at the Sale and Bairnsdale Golf Clubs, with Lakes Entrance going down to Bairnsdale in round one (3.5-1.5) of division one, before bouncing back in the afternoon with a huge win over Yarram (5-0).
It was a similar situation in division three, losing to Bairnsdale One in the morning (4-1), before winning a tight match in the afternoon against Yarram (3-2).
