Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade and the Toorloo Arm Fire Brigade will join forces once again this year to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
There will be three trucks and three buses heading out on Good Friday to collect donations around Lake Tyers Beach and Lakes Entrance, so if you hear the sirens in your neighbourhood head out and give generously.
A map of the routes they will be taking will be up on the Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade Facebook page.
There will also be raffle stations outside Foodworks and in the arcades near Big
Bears Donuts and Lakes Entrance Newsagency in the lead-up, plus one at the fire station on the day.
More than a hundred raffle prizes can be won throughout the day and night.
Volunteers will be at the bowls club, Lakes Sports and Community Club, Kalimna Hotel, Central Hotel, Waterwheel Tavern and the RSL on Friday night conducting raffles.
The Servo will hold two raffles, one at 2pm and one at 6pm.
Volunteers of all ages are wanted to man the trucks and buses and John encourages all to register with the brigade.
“Arrive at the Lakes Entrance station between 8.15 and 8.30am, lunch is provided and we encourage as many as possible to volunteer,” organiser John Upton said.
“We will have a special guest, Ray McKay, at the fire station for an hour or two during the day. Billy Bills was the founder of the appeal in Lakes Entrance, inspired by a local boy and that was Ray.
“My daughter Lesley has contacted schools to get helpers and hopes this will bring more volunteers to help.
“If a child is under 10 years of age they will need to be accompanied by an adult.”
