Lakes Entrance 4 is the 2024/25 Gippsland Bowls Region midweek pennant eastern conference division three premiership winner after defeating Lakes Entrance 5 in the finale at the Bairnsdale Bowling Club last week.
Yesterday they took on Yarram for the Gippsland Bowls Regional title at Bairnsdale.
The Superleague midweek pennant final was contested at the same time, with ladder leader and defending champion, Lakes Entrance playing Sale, who were victorious four less times in the home and away season, but have pushed Lakes in both encounters this season, with two and one-shot margins.
Lakes 4 kept its unbeaten season intact, with its 55-24 demolition of Lakes 5, who did well to progress to the final after just scraping into fourth position on the ladder.
Dianne Scott, Frank Detering, Heather Todd, John Kimberley (23-14) and Ian Gray, Charlie Abela, Carol and John Hurren (32-10) were all in top form heading into this week’s decider.
Unfortunately things didn’t go the way of Lakes Entrance 2 in the division two eastern conference decider, going down to the season’s dominant side, Metung, 65-51 despite winning two of the three rinks.
Julie Rowe, Bill Gilbert, Charles Lesiw and Samuel Berlingeri (20-18) and Dawn Irwin, Stephen Adams, Lynton Rathjen, Peter Howie (21-19) winning hard fought contests to no avail.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
