THUMBS UP: To the very civic-minded person who over two days removed the rubbish and leaves accumulated on the boardwalk between Greene Street and Harnham Drive. Well done and a big thank you from all the walkers that use this area.
THUMBS UP: To all the over-worked and under-appreciated nurses, teachers, police, grounds keepers, and other “faceless bureaucrats”. Those politicians and government lobbyists, who have no truly-effective improvements to offer, should hang their heads in shame.
THUMBS DOWN: To the bushfire-recovery decision makers who’ve spent the money on so many esoteric and irrelevant projects. Five years down the line and still no trees removed along the very roads that we need to evacuate on to save our lives in future fires. Apparently the powerlines are worthy of diligent fire protection, but East Gippsland’s citizens and visitors are not.
THUMBS UP: To the Stop/Go people at the roadworks at WyYung/Eastwood. They do a great job in all weather conditions, stifling heat to heavy rain and severe cold. Always cheerful and considerate. Well done all, we appreciate your work.
THUMBS DOWN: To the real estate agents charging landlords more than $350 for a commercial inspection to identify whether their rental property has such basics as curtains, door locks, running water etc. An unnecessary imposition on the vast majority of property owners, which can only result in less rental availability and affordability.
