It has been another big week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, which remains in magnificent condition, conducive to good scoring.
Michelle Kirk was the winner of Tuesday’s Young and the Restless, while at Ruthless and Toothless, which saw 39 players sign up, saw Justin Gray took “A” grade and David Congalton “B” grade.
Wednesday’s medley stableford saw a healthy muster of 31 line up, with the popular Patty Smith winning both the event and “B” grade with 39 points, while the in-form Jenny Kesper was the winner of “A” grade on countback from the consistent Apola Weel, both posting 37 stableford points.
Thursday’s event was par plus, which always adds some interest and isn’t always everyone’s cup of tea, but “B” grade player Les Rodgers wasn’t complaining, winning the day with plus five.
Rob Sperring was the winner on countback in “A” grade, while Congalton struck again, this time in “C” grade.
Well in excess of 100 players took to course on Saturday, despite the stifling heat, with women’s winners being Hayley Cotton (“A” grade) and Bette Severs (“B” grade).
Marcus Fry had a day out in the men’s competition, winning “C” grade and the event with a sensational 43 points, while the enthusiastic Tim Saik (“A” grade) and the long-hitting Chris Barnes (“B” grade) were also among the spoils.
