Thumbs Up Thumbs Down 19/03/2025

THUMBS DOWN: To the dog owners who (a) can’t be bothered to even do a basic canine obedience course, and (b) go “walkies” using an ID collar or (even worse) a harness, instead of the proper equipment. It’s barely under control, you’re both experiencing undue physical strain, and it raises uncertainty of who is the more responsible being.

THUMBS UP: A sincere thank you to the honest and kind person who handed in my iPhone to Bairnsdale police station on January 15 with all of my cards still intact. This was very much appreciated.

THUMBS UP: To “Shirley” who presented boxes of chocolates to the CFA volunteer refuelling a fire tanker “to share with your brigade members as thanks for all that you do”.

THUMBS DOWN: To the people riding their horses through Bruthen Main Street and leaving horse poo on the footpath, particularly out the front of the op shop.

THUMBS UP: To the Bairnsdale Field and Game Club for hosting a successful Riviera Schools Clay Target Competition. The volunteers from the club were amazing with the students before the event, sharing their knowledge and supporting the local kids and welcoming schools from around the region. Well done to the Nagle team taking the win and supporting many new students to come and have a go.

THUMBS UP: A very big thank you to the lovely ladies who helped me when I had a fall in Goold Street last month. Also a big thanks to the lovely paramedics who took me to the hospital. Thankfully no broken bones. I didn’t know any of you, so many thanks through here.

THUMBS UP: Thank you the kind man who paid for my drink at Aldi in Lakes. The gesture was really appreciated.
