Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club’s Bronze Camp was held from December 15-21.
There were 14 Surf Rescue Certificate candidates who attended camp between 8am and 5pm each day, and 28 Bronze Medallion candidates who lived in for the week, a combination of both Lakes Entrance and Mallacoota members.
“Candidates learnt how to conduct aquatic-based rescues, provide emergency care and CPR, and undertake patrol operations. In addition, the camp focused on themes such as, leadership, member development and teamwork,” camp coordinator Jess Woodward said.
“Despite adversity, all candidates pushed themselves outside their comfort zone and displayed great growth. All candidates successfully completed the week, and are ready to patrol Main Beach.”
Jess said the camp’s success is credited to the surf club’s team of training officers and staff.
“Their hard work, guidance and mentorship is invaluable. We’d like to thank them for their continued support and time,” she said.
“Also a big thanks to the local businesses who either donated or discounted their products, we’re incredibly grateful.”
Main Beach and Eastern Beach will be patrolled by both lifeguards and lifesavers seven days a week up until the end of school holidays, and weekends until Easter post this time.
