Replacement continues

Contractors working on East Gippsland Shire Council’s Lakes Entrance seawall replacement project have en- countered some unexpected obstructions in recent weeks that slowed progress.

However, council says every endeavour is being made to still have the works completed as soon as possible, but the need to remove large chunks of concrete (the result of decades of interim repairs to the seawall) had slowed progress.

The existing 216-metre blue- stone seawall between the Lakes Entrance Coast Guard building and the existing board- walk east of the beach is being replaced with precast concrete panels, a boardwalk, platform and ramp to the beach.

The Bank Jetty carpark is closed for the duration of the project.
