Easter seafood bonanza

Easter seafood bonanza

The stars aligned for Lakes Entrance fishermen and the Lakes Entrance Fishermen's Co-operative just before Easter.
Almost 50 tonne of seafood was unloaded on the Sunday prior to the Easter period which logistics coordinator at the co-op, Ben John, had not seen in his five years there.
"It all lined up well for the fishermen with three days of flat seas and a full moon," Ben said.
"This gave them three to four days to load up and as the demand was there it all sold on the one market day. This is unheard of for that amount of fish to be cleared and all at good prices.
"Last year we started concentrating on the wholesale side of the business and now sell to businesses from Sale through to Merimbula. We sold well over two tonnes of seafood, mainly prawns, gummy and flathead fillets, for the Easter period."
