Jemmys Point works underway

East Gippsland Shire has started works on the Jemmys Point Lookout project and has erected signs closing access to the area.
Council reports that while a large scale and iconic platform will not be pursued at this time, it is proceeding with improvements to what is known as the Rotary Park site, in line with the feedback received as part of previous community engagement.
Acting mayor, Cr Arthur Allen, expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
"We have carefully considered the input of our community members and are committed to enhancing the appeal of Rotary Park, with community insights and feedback taken into consideration," Cr Allen said.
Improvements will include new all ability toilet and baby changing facilities, barbecues and picnic tables, landscaping treatments focusing on making the area more usable and enjoyable, improvement of the parking and turnaround road.
