Piper’s fitting tribute

Piper’s fitting tribute

The Dawn Service commemorating ANZAC Day always has a special atmosphere but this year was added to with a lone piper giving a haunting performance.
As dawn broke a dedicated crowd assembled at the Lakes Entrance Cenotaph on Marine Parade to the lamenting sound of a pipers' anthem, Lest We Forget, played by lone piper David Hynd, Corporal of Melbourne Rats of Tobruk Pipers and Pipe Major at Sale RSL. The image was epic, a demonstration of pride, independence and strength, picturing the piper leading his clan into battle. He was the age old symbol of a folk hero and the Scottish warrior William Wallace the brave heart recently introduced to a younger generation by Mel Gibson.

CAPTION: Lone Piper, David Hynd, had the crowd in the palm of his hands at the Lakes Entrance ANZAC Day dawn service.
