A crafty Christmas

A crafty Christmas

Metung demonstrated yet another display of cohesive community spirit last weekend, when Metung Primary School played host to the inaugural Christmas Craft Market, coordinated and managed by passionate local Tracey O’Brien.
More than 30 stallholders took part, offering homemade crafts such as birdhouse/feeders, pot plants, fairy-inspired garden decorations, jewellery, metal sculptures, and much more.
There was even a visit by the man in red himself, along with his Christmas elf (aka Steph Murray from the Metung Post Office).
“The day was a great success,” Tracey said. “The weather was perfect, and we had a good turnout, so I look forward to this being an annual event.”
Around $1000 was fundraised from hosting stallholders, a sausage sizzle, scone sales (generously donated by Joy Dunbar, a Metung local), and a raffle (with prizes donated by stallholders).
“With the monthly Metung Market and a book sale the St John’s Church all being held at the same time, it made for a truly great shopping day out in Metung for residents and visitors alike,” Tracey said.
