School closed for COVID

Cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in one primary school and one day care centre in Lakes Entrance.
The Lakes Post was unable to get a statement from either St Brendan’s Primary School or the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education, but it has reported to parents and guardians via a newsletter that infectious students attended the school last week.
These students were in grade one, two, three and six and there are also several teachers in isolation due to being primary close contacts.
The school closed on Monday with the announcement that it would undergo a thorough deep clean. It is expected to reopen on Wednesday, November 3.
Children will complete remote learning once again.

Linda Main, from Lakes Entrance Aboriginal Health Association (LEAHA), was getting tested on Monday and hopes to encourage those from the Aboriginal community to come forward for testing if they have any symptoms. Nurses Peta Bassett and Juana Ford said they have been very busy with testing following the recent outbreak. “We have tested four-month-old babies to the elderly and those in between,” Peta said.
