On the morning of August 22, Linda Richardson was riding her bike along the esplanade shared footpath opposite Fish a Fare heading east.
She saw a couple of families on the pathway with bikes, scooters and some walking, so decided it was easier to go out around them and come back onto the walkway further down.
“I was travelling at a shared pathway speed,” Linda said.
“As I left the pathway via the driveway at the wharf area I ploughed into one of the cement barriers that are along the angled parking bays.”
On inspection the end of these barriers sit out at least a metre from the guttering and in the early morning sun were not visible.
