The Gippsland Eye

The Gippsland Eye

They are calling it the Gippsland Eye, it is huge and it is in Lakes Entrance for the summer.
Chant’s Carnival has introduced its brand new ferris wheel, which has the latest technology and will give the best view over the Lakes and town.
“It is 40 metres high as opposed to the old one which was about 20 metres,” Les Chant said.
The wheel was constructed in Holland and Les Chant went there and was trained in its setting up and operation.
It was a two-month journey to Australia and it has taken three semitrailers to get it to Lakes Entrance.

“We took delivery of it three days before COVID-19 put us into lockdown,” Les said.
“It was meant to be at the Sydney Easter Show and many other major events, but that was all cancelled. We have had many enquiries from coastal towns wanting to host the wheel, but we have brought it to Lakes.”
Les and his team used the lockdown to revamp all their rides and do a lot of maintenance.
“We are allowed one thousand people into the carnival at a time with the size of the block and spacing,” he said.
“There is signage and sanitiser positioned conveniently and all seats and handrails will be sanitised after each ride.”
Les is philosophical and prepared to work with any precautions.
